SLIPERIET – Umeå University’s Vice Chancellor, Hans Adolfsson, announced new rules this afternoon, in response to the increasingly serious coronavirus situation in the city. “Above all, we now need to reduce the number of people on university premises,” he said, “but also limit physical contact between people.”
The rules include:
Increased social distancing:
- Anyone on university property must practice social distancing
- People should limit contact to a few, and the same, individuals, if possible
- All meetings, conferences, seminars, visits, and so forth must be carried out digitally, postponed, or cancelled
- No events may be held at the university
Education
- Teaching and exams should be carried out digitally, without physical presence, provided that they can be done so at a reasonable quality
- Students doing external internships, tutorials, theses, work-based education, and so forth, must follow the guidelines and recommendations of supervisors
Employees
- All employees must work from home as much as possible, after consulting with their immediate supervisor
- Business trips should be greatly restricted, and digital alternatives should always be considered
The university has a coronavirus crisis group which the public can contact at corona@umu.se.
